Protected Characteristics

Protected characteristics are woven through our whole curriculum. They are crucial to children being respectful well-rounded citizens. We are tolerant of all groups and aspire to combat hurtful or negative stereotypes. We teach that age, gender reassignment, being married or in a civil partnership, being pregnant or on maternity leave, a disability, race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation are protected characteristics and a fundamental part of British life.

These concepts can be seen in our reading spine, PSHE lessons, assemblies themes and coaching circle titles.
