Health and Well-being

Our aim of teaching pupils about physical health and mental wellbeing is to give them the information and skills that they need to make good decisions about their own health and wellbeing. It will enable them to recognise emotions and fitness and therefore the skills to regulate and engage in an active lifestyle.

● Tyneview’s effective relational approach and nurture offer support to all pupils and families resulting in pupils who know themselves and others well.  Basic first aid is taught to support the children with crucial life skills.
● Outside providers and trips support us to bring these lessons to life such as sports providers and competitions, dentists and eye care routines.

Living in the Wider World

Pupils will learn about what rules are, why rules and laws are needed in different situations and the consequences of not following them. They will understand what anti-social behaviour is and take active stands to combat this in our area. We will learn how to be safe online and how to report misuse of the internet. Teaching will enable children to understand the importance of having compassion towards others and the shared responsibilities we all have for caring for other people, living things and the environment. Pupils learn about diversity and the value of diverse communities. They learn about stereotypes and how they can negatively influence behaviours and attitudes towards others. Children learn about money and the different forms it comes in. Children are exposed to the need to manage money and recognise that spending decisions should be based on priorities, needs and wants.

Our wider curriculum is made real by excellent community links with the fire brigade, youth schemes, police, cyber team and council run safety projects. These relationships are invaluable for supporting our children to translate
knowledge into skills.
