October is Black History Month, and at Tyneview, we are using our history classes and assemblies to recognise an important part of our history as a community.
To start the month, we had a whole school assembly introducing the celebration. We looked at some important black and mixed-heritage women and their achievements.
Later in the month, we are looking forward to our olaf up assembly where pupils will show what they have learned in class and present some of their work such as posters, writing, and artworks.
In some of our history classes, our Y1-Y6 groups will each be studying a different black or mixed-heritage woman from a different industry and explore their stamp on history.
History is an important part of our curriculum, as it helps our children develop as broad-minded and well-informed young citizens.
